JustAir adsorption dryer for efficient removal of moisture from compressed air, essential for reliable industrial applications

Adsorption dryers from JustAir - Ultra-dry compressed air for demanding applications

We offer a full range of oil-free adsorption dryers, from energy efficient cold regenerated models to powerful hot regenerated systems. Depending on your compressed air consumption, desired dew point and energy priority, we always choose the most suitable solution with a focus on reliability and low operating costs.

What is an adsorption dryer?

An adsorption dryer is a compressed air drying system that uses a hygroscopic (moisture-adsorbing) material, such as silica gel, molecular sieve or activated alumina. Compressed air is passed along this material, which “adsorbs” water from the air. The adsorbent is then regenerated (dried) so that the moisture that had been retained is removed, allowing the material to be reused. This regeneration process can be done in various ways (without heat, with heat, with blower air, etc.).

Why choose an adsorption dryer from JustAir?

At JustAir, we supply adsorption dryers for industrial compressed air systems, focusing on:

  • Extremely low pressure dew points (PDP) – for applications requiring very dry air (e.g. -40 °C or even -70 °C).

  • Oil-free air quality & process integrity – important for petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, electronics, and all processes where moisture and contamination are problematic.

  • Energy efficiency & lower operating costs – our dryers feature smart controls, division of regeneration air, zero-purge variants etc.

  • Reliability & uptime – robust construction, long life of adsorbent, service support & monitoring 24/7.

  • Scalable & flexible – from smaller capacity for specific processes to large twin-tower systems for entire production plants.

How does an adsorption dryer work in practice?

  • Drying phase: wet compressed air is passed through one or more adsorption towers. During this phase, the adsorbent absorbs the moisture.

  • Regeneration phase: once the adsorbent is saturated, it is regenerated so that it can reabsorb moisture. Regeneration can be done via:

    • Heatless (heat-dissipating air): using dried compressed air for regeneration. Simple, but with purge air loss (~ 15-20 %) depending on design.

    • Heated purge: additional heating of the purge air to reduce purge air volume and reduce energy loss.

    • Blower purge / blower-regenerated dryers: ambient air is heated and used; often without loss of compressed air volume. Very efficient in large installations.

    • Heat-of-compression / heat recovery variants: using waste heat from compressors or other sources. Ideal for reduction of additional energy demand.

  • Tower change: there are often two towers. When one is in dry phase, the other undergoes regeneration. Thus, dry air is always available.

For whom & in what situations?

Our JustAir adsorption dryers are particularly valuable at:

  • Processen met lage omgevingstemperaturen of grote variaties in temperatuur. Condensatiedrogers presteren veel slechter bij koude omstandigheden.

  • Applications where very dry air is required, for example in pharmaceuticals, coatings, spray processes, or with sensitive materials.

  • Installations where product quality, product safety and regulations (such as for food, pharma, cleanrooms) place high demands on air quality.

  • Situations where condensation and moisture problems lead to failures, corrosion, product failure, maintenance costs. Adsorption prevents those problems.

  • Production sites striving to minimize operational costs over the life cycle, through lower downtime, less corrosion, and energy-efficient drying.

Technical specifications that JustAir looks out for

  • Pressure Dew Point (PDP): standard options e.g. -40 °C, -70 °C for severe requirements.

  • Capacity- air flow rate: from small models to large installations (e.g., hundreds to tens of thousands of m³/h).

  • Working pressure: design for common compressors; often 4-10 bar or higher depending on project.

  • Regeneration type: choice depending on capacity, PDP, budget, energy prices.

  • Materials & construction: long life of adsorbent, robust towers, good sealing; minimize pressure loss.

  • Control & monitoring: PDP sensors, load dependent control, alarms, reports, connectivity (remote monitoring).

Case studies & savings

  • A coating technology company replaced an outdated refrigerated dryer with a blower-purge adsorption dryer with -40 °C PDP: operating flow dropped by 20-30 %, condensation problems disappeared, finished products previously rejected, now consistently finished.

  • Pharmaceutical application: due to drier air, tablets are more stable, production downtime due to moisture reduced, compliance with GMP standards improved.

  • In food industry: storage of grains / flour. Reduction of mold or moisture damage, lower wastage, better shelf life.
