An oil-lubricated stationary compressor is a fixed compressed air system – installed in one location in your production hall or technical area – using oil for lubrication, sealing and cooling of moving parts. Unlike mobile or temporary solutions, a stationary compressor is designed for continuous operation, with solid housing, stable power source, and optimized cooling and oil circuit systems.
The compressor draws in air through a filter system, then compresses the air in compression elements (e.g., screw rotors or pistons).
Oil in the compression elements reduces friction, dissipates heat, and optimizes sealing. The lubrication circuit provides oil circulation, cooling, filtration, and oil separation.
After compression, compressed air is mixed with small amounts of oil aerosols; these are largely removed from the compressed air by oil separators, compressed air filters, and downstream equipment. The air quality depends on the compressed air filters used, maintenance, and any post-treatment.
Screw compressors are common for stationary applications: robust, high capacity, relatively quiet operation under heavy load; good choice for continuous compressed air needs.
Piston compressors can be used for lower pressure or intermittent operation; often taken when flow or pressure peaks are smaller, or for precise control.
Capacity (flow rate in m³/min), working pressure (bar), efficiency, noise, oil consumption, oil cleanliness and filtration are important parameters.
| Advantages | Disadvantages – points of interest |
|---|---|
| Efficiency under heavy loads—better performance during continuous use. | Compressed air contains residual oil; depending on the requirements, the air must be filtered. |
| Relatively lower purchase costs than those of suppliers of oil-free Class 0 solutions. | Regular maintenance required: oil changes, compressed air filters, separator maintenance. |
| Durability, long service life, suitable for harsh industrial environments. | Noise, heat generation, and the possible need for additional cooling. |
| Wide range of applications where compressed air quality does not need to be top-class 0. | Environmental considerations: waste oil; ensure proper disposal and separation. |
In many industrial situations, renting an oil-lubricated stationary compressor is a smart business choice:
Flexibility & risk management
You do not need to make a large investment (CapEx). For temporary projects, inspection of production lines, peak load or replacement of defective units, you remain operational without capital risk.
Continuity of Production
When your fixed compressor undergoes maintenance or breaks down, a rental unit can be quickly deployed. Production delays or downtime are minimized.
Competitive cost structure
Lease agreements can include maintenance, service, compressed air filters, oil, etc. – making operational costs (OPEX) more predictable.
Scalability & customized capacity
You rent exactly what is needed: certain flow rate, pressure, run time. No paying under- or overcapacity.
No logistical worries
Delivery, installation, connection, startup, and disposal are provided by extensive rental network such as JustAir.
JustAir positions itself as a leading rental partner, focusing on performance, reliability and service. Below is what customers get from JustAir:
Full delivery & installation: with JustAir, rental does not mean just the unit – we provide transportation, set-up, connection, basic safety and commissioning.
Maintenance and support included: oil, compressed air filters, separators, inspections; JustAir ensures that the machine continues to operate at optimal efficiency.
24/7 monitoring: critical parameters such as pressure, temperature, oil level and vibrations are monitored. Faults are detected early; intervention can often be proactive.
Customized rental periods: flexible short-term rental (days/weeks) or long-term (months/years), depending on project needs or replacement.
Spare units & rapid intervention: should a unit fail, we can provide a replacement compressor at short notice to avoid downtime.
